Ukraine cuts steel output by 12.9% in July, ranks 12th on Worldsteel rating

Ukraine cut steel output by 12.9% in July 2017 year-over-year, to 1.81 million tonnes, climbing to 12th position from the 14th in June on the Worldsteel rating of 67 steelmakers.

The top ten steel producing countries by the end of July 2017 were China (74.021 million tonnes, 10.3% up), Japan (8.588 million tonnes, 4.3% down), India (8.362 million tonnes, 3.5% up), the United States (7.071 million tonnes, 5.6% up), South Korea (6.159 million tonnes, 2.3% up), Russia (5.585 million tonnes, 8% down), Germany (3.514 million tonnes, 3.6% up), Turkey (3.345 million tonnes, 27.8% up), Brazil (2.832 million tonnes, 1% up), and Italy (2.12 million tonnes, 1.7% up).

They are followed by Taiwan (1.96 million tonnes, 5.5% up), Ukraine (1.81 million tonnes, 12.9% down), Mexico (1.725 million tonnes, 1.9% up) and Iran (1.575 million tonnes, 16.5% up).

In July 2017, all 67 countries produced 143.245 million tonnes of steel, which was 6.3% up year-over-year.

The top ten steel producing countries in January-July 2017 were China (491.553 million tonnes, 5.1% up), Japan (60.913 million tonnes, 0.2% down), India (58.017 million tonnes, 5.4% up), the United States (47.748 million tonnes, 2.1% up), Russia (40.495 million tonnes, 0.5% down), South Korea (40.868 million tonnes, 3.5% up), Germany (25.734 million tonnes, 1.9% up), Turkey (21.559 million tonnes, 13.6% up), Brazil (19.555 million tonnes, 10.6% up), and Italy (14.471 million tonnes, 1.6% up).

January through July 2017, Ukraine ranked 12th with 12.314 million tonnes, which was 15% down year-over-year.

In January-July 2017, all 67 countries produced 977.321 million tonnes of steel, which was 4.6% up year-over-year.
